Today our team rep announced that Elvin Foreman will not be returning as Head Coach to the Gators next season. We know it is not always easy to keep the most talented people around, and we are grateful for his 7 year tenure! He is very excited to pursue a dream he has had for a long time and establish his own summer league team in his community in Maryland. This will also allow him to expand his year around program.
Since 2007 Elvin Foreman has helped the Gators grow from 120 swimmers to the 205 we have today. Under his leadership our team has moved from Division 10 to Division 6 and we won both the Division Championship and Sportsmanship awards in 2007 and 2010. From 2010 to 2012 our team also only lost 3 meets!! Coach Elvin was instrumental in establishing the Winter Swim program and develop the Mini Gator program to what it is today. In addition to coaching our swimmers, he has been a mentor to many as they became assistant coaches.
Coach Elvin is not only a USA Swimming Head Coach and Club Owner of his team but has been a coach for other local teams and high schools for over 15 years and is very active and well respected in the metropolitan region. He has graciously offered to share his expertise and help the team find a new head coach.
We are grateful for his many years of service to the Gator community and team and we look forward to celebrating his contributions at our last potluck tonight and at our Awards Ceremony on Sunday. If you see Elvin, be sure to say “Thank you” for all he has contributed to our community. We wish him all the best in his endeavors, and he will always be welcome in Gatorland!
